I’m bummed I missed Artisanal L.A this past weekend and even more bummed I did not get to try I heart pies. How cute is their logo and design!? I’m totally in awe and can’t wait to try some of their pies. It’s refreshing to see people starting sustainable businesses locally and having fun with it. By Ducky – October 18, 2010
![]() B&W, Orange&Black, Red Velvet Benjie just returned from New York and my one request was to bring me back some black&white cookies, a New York staple. He brought me back 4 cookies, two traditional black and whites, an orange and black (Halloween themed?) and a red velvet from William Greenberg Jr. So what ‘s the difference between a regular cookie and a B&W one? Basically it’s like a cake in cookie form. The inside is cakey and the top is covered 50/50 in vanilla and chocolate frosting. See why I am a fan? I have to admit I had my first black&white cookie in Chicago at Bennison’s Bakery and I loved it! So I was excited to get the real deal from NY. Unlike the first one I tried, these ones were extremely cake like, no cookie crunch outside. Either way I’m still a fan of the cake cookies and it’s true the best bite is in the middle. Update: The Red Velvet b&w cookie is ridiculous good- half cream cheese frosting & half milk chocolate frosting on red velvet cake. There is a good and simple recipe for the cookies at Salad in a Jar and I will attempt to make them soon. To be continued. By Ducky – October 13, 2010
