Thanks to Notcot, I found out about the new IKEA cookbook “Hembakat ar Bast” (Homemade is Best), which is amazingly designed with great photos by Carl Kleiner. All the ingredients are laid out beautifully. Visit Carl’s site for more pictures of the book, it is a definite buy for the awesome photographs.

    bananacreamtart

All I wanted for my birthday was a Tartine double pan au chocolat and that was what I got plus more. Benjie and I flew up to San Francisco this past Thursday and our first stop was Tartine. I ordered the banana cream tart, which was recommended by Sheena and a couple double pan au chocolates of course. The banana cream tart was prefect, flaky pastry crust, a dark chocolate shell filled with caramel, pastry  cream and bananas. You really can’t go wrong with anything from Tartine. I had to make a second stop before leaving to L.A and unfortunately they ran out of double pan au chocolate so I settled with a frangipane (almond) croissant which was just as good. If you are ever in San Francisco, Tartine is a definite must!

I absolutely love this! I wish I could go to the exhibit. It’s everything I love tied together. You must check out the review and pictures here. If you are in NYC, go check it out @ The Cooper Union, 41 Cooper Gallery (41 Cooper Sq/Lower Level 1). Super exciting!
