Choco Flan, also known as the “Impossible Cake” is my new favorite dessert. I’ve had my eyes on this flan for months and barley tried it this past week at Rick Bayless’s new addition Xoco in Chicago. All I can say is that it’s just as amazing as I imagined it to be. I’ve been procrastinating on ordering it since September because I’ve been intimated by it and afraid it may not be as good as hyped up in my head. It definitely did not disappoint. I love flan and the fact that chocolate cake + flan existed together was a winner. The chocolate cake was dense and chocolaty and complemented the creamy flan on top. What really stood out was the Cajeta (Goat Milk Caramel Sauce), it was overpowered with mexican cinnamon and really added to the whole cake. It’s honestly my new favorite cake and I can not wait to make it at home. Lucky for us, Rick Bayless has the recipe for the dessert on his website. Enjoy! By Ducky – May 9, 2010

I just came across an awesome recipe blog, its called Recipe Look and is not the ordinary food blog with typed out text and fancy photos. All the recipes are hand drawn and written! The fun part is that you can contribute your own hand drawn recipes to the site as well. This is a really fun and creative way to display your recipes. If you extra time on your hands, you should participate and draw out some of your favorite recipes. I know I am! P.S They are having a competition going on right now, all you have to do is submit your HOTTEST recipe, whatever that means to you! Here are a few of my favorites from Recipe Look |
