In today’s growing choices of specialty bakeries and desserts, we like to keep it local and choose Sweet Sugar Cookies for our sugar cookie needs. Owned and operated by Jennifer Carrillo in Alhambra, CA, this small company considers every detail when preparing your specialty cookie order. We had a chance to catch up with Jennifer and ask her a few questions about her cookie company. Check out her interview and the special Fullybaked x Sweet Sugar Cookies giveaway after the jump.
FB: Tell us about yourself and your company
J: I’m a sugar loving, cookie baking, crafty kind of gal. I often donate cookies and my time to the local Elementary School, P.T.A., and Girl Scout Troop. I’m always up to teaching people how to bake and decorate. My company Sweet Sugar Cookies makes hand decorated sugar cookies for all occasions. The cookies and icing are made from scratch and every order is freshly baked. A dozen cookies will cost you $24. I recently added a line of aprons to my company. The aprons are priced from $20-$35.
FB: How long have you been baking?
J:As a young girl I would bake with my Abuelita. As I got older I would bake for my family and friends. In 2005 I went to school for baking and I have been baking professionally ever since.
FB: What inspired you to start your company?
J:In 2006 I made a 100 cookies for my friends wedding and with all the positive feed back I received it made me realize I may have found my calling.
FB: Outside of sugar cookies, what is your favorite baked good?
J: Brownies…There’s just something SPECIAL about a classic chocolate brownie. I also love the different variations of brownies like rocky road, a la mode, gooey, cakey, and fudgey. I prefer cakey brownies.
FB: Your favorite L.A bakery?
J: Porto’s!!! All of their baked goods are so delicious. Cakes Sensations in South Pasadena is also one of my faves. Their lemon cake with raspberry chiffon filling is the best.
FB: Outside of sweets, what is your favorite food?
J:I’m such a foodie this question is hard to answer. I’m always down for some sushi, tacos, or a spam musubi. OH! and cereal. I can eat cereal anytime of the day.
FB: What is your favorite baking tool, you can not live without?
J: My Kitchenaid mixer. I don’t know what I’d do without it.
FB: What is your one favorite ingredient?
J: Sugar of course. I’m a sugar pusher!

FB:What is the weirdest compliment you’ve received?
J:Someone once said,” I thought these cookies were not going to taste good because they look so pretty, but they are really, really good.” So I guess that’s a weird compliment?
FB:What is the most unique custom cookie order you’ve received?
J: A Penis…hahaha. I made a few dozen for a bachelorette party. That was a fun order to make.
J: It depends on my mood. I usually just hit shuffle on my IPOD but it can range from The Pharcyde, Biggie Smalls, Freestyle Fellowship, NAS and Bob
FB: What made you start making aprons?
J: I’ve always loved aprons and my Mom is one of the best seamstress around. So, when she retired in May we joined forces and decided this was the perfect opportunity to create fashionable and affordable aprons.

J: The seasons, my travels, latest fashion trends, culture, music, colors, patterns, textures and comfort.
FB: Where is your product available?
J: http://www.myspace.com/sweetsugarcookies

J:Learn more, teach more, create more, expand and innovate my company, and to make the world sweeter one cookie at a time.
FB: If you could fight any food, what would it be?
J: I’m a lover not a fighter <3

I love Sweet Sugar Cookies. I’ve made many purchases from Jennifer. My duaghter’s just love her cookies. They love the fact that they can ask for any design and Jennifer can make it. My co-workers are always impressed with all the designs that she has to offer. I’ve ordered cookies for birthdays, baby showers, for our cheerleaders. Jennifer is a very talented young lady and I see her moving up in the world. Good luck Jennifer!

OMG. Literally every time I eat a Sweet Sugar Cookie my mouth reaches a state of nirvana. The cookies are to die for and are highly recommended by someone who has made many orders with the company. Each cookie is handcrafted and no cookie is alike. JC is definitely an amazing baker as well an a aspiring artist. All this world needs is love, art and cookies.

The most beautiful looking and better yet, best tasting I’ve ever had. Hey, if I get a couple of dozen for my staff will they get a “sugar high” and work faster? LOL.
Keep ‘em coming. The world can always use a little more sweetness.
