Welcome to the wonderful world of Ducky and Marilyn. We thought it would be appropriate if our first post is the recipe to the infamous Jell•O Cake. Most people think it’s Jell•O shaped like a cake but if you click below you will find it’s something much more magical and delicious. Enjoy!

The two main ingredients: A box of your favorite cake mix and a 6oz box of your favorite Jell•O.

We like to pair Devils Food cake mix with Cherry Jell•O and Pineapple cake mix with Strawberry Jell•O. Feel free to experiment with other flavor pairings.

The recipe is very simple. Make your cake or cupcakes according to the box or if you’re fancy, from scratch. If you’re making a cake, a bunt pan is preferred. The magic happens once they are fullybaked and cooled.

Leave your cake/cupcakes in their pans to cool. Once your cake has cooled poke holes in your cake/cupcakes with a skewer. Be sure to spread your holes evenly across your cake/cupcake. After you’re done poking holes it’s time to prepare the Jell•O. Place the gelatin powder in a bowl. Bring two cups of water to a boil. Add the boiling water to the gelatin and stir quickly. Once the powder has dissolved add ONE cup of cold water. Mix well. The box says to add two cups of cold water but for Jell•O cake it’s only one. Here comes the magic.

Cake: Spoon the liquid over your cake and aim for the holes you poked. The holes allow for the liquid to penetrate your cake further. Yes I chose those words on purpose. DO NOT pour the Jell•O liquid onto the cake. You will end up with mush. You must spoon it onto the cake. Be sure to distribute the Jell•O evenly on your cake. After you add all of the Jell•O to your cake throw it in the fridge for three hours. Remove cake from pan and frost with Cool Whip or fresh whipped cream. Enjoy!

Cupcakes: You will need a baby syringe to inject the Jell•O into the cupcakes. You can pick this up at your local pharmacy and it looks like this

No heroin syringes please. Insert the syringe in the holes you’ve already made and inject the Jell•O. Make sure to soak the cupcakes evenly. After you’ve added Jell•O to all the cupcakes refrigerate for 3 hours. Frost your cupcakes with Cool Whip or fresh whipped cream. Enjoy!

We hope you enjoy our favorite dessert recipe. These are a cool and refreshing treat and always a crowd pleaser.
