This past weekend Little Sweeties Cupcakes and I presented the first installment of “Sweet Sundaes” at Ray Rays Eat to the Beat in Alhambra, Ca. Thanks to Ray, we were able to hold the event at his Japanese restaurant and turn it into a dessert social event. As well as all the sweets provided by Little Sweeties and I, Ray also made his famous empanadas and Big Stick drink. We were also lucky to have Dj Joelskee and J-Uno deejay the event. Not only was there good food and sweets, there was also great music. The event was a success with a great turnout of friends, family, Ray’s regulars, people around the neighborhood , Little Sweeties customers and people who saw our flyers and posters around the L.A and San Gabriel Valley area. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and supported. We hope to continue Sweet Sundaes on a monthly basis with different themes. Keep checking back for info on the next one! Thank you

Parallel Lines introduced their first Savor Los Angeles series last night which featured locals specializing in high quality sweets. The event had a great turnout and was a huge success. The event took place at an amazing gallery space, Miauhaus Studios located in the Miracle Mile of Los Angeles. The selection of participants was outstanding, it was truly the best of the best in L.A. Even the selection of DJs and music was on point. It was an intimate and well organized event which I enjoyed.

    Now to the highlights

My friend Carol knows how much I love ice cream and sent me this link of awesome ice cream cone lamp fixtures. They are from a UK boutique called Mixko and the only one that is left for purchase is the white sugar cone.

Doughnuts are actually easier to make than you may think. I finally attempted making them and it was a surprising success. I made a basic yeast dough and a  few different glazes; vanilla, matcha and coffee. I topped the vanilla glaze doughnuts with sprinkles and fruity pebbles. The coffee glaze one’s had too much of a strong coffee taste then needed. The matcha glaze was a pleasant sweet (sugar, sugar, sugar) green tea flavor. The most fun part of making them has to be the glazing and decorating part. Click more for the basic recipe I used.

    SUmmer Tasting

A month from today will be the new and improved Street Food Fest at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. The last highly anticipated street food fest this past Feburary brought together thousands of people  to the event and was a bit chatotic, but this one will be different and give everyone who buys a pre-sale ticket an opportunity to experience an array of food samples, drinks and music. This will be a great chance to try all the hot food trucks, street carts and other chef caterers that are getting buzz in L.A right now.

“Enjoy sampling signature bites from more than 60 vendors including hot gourmet food trucks, old school carts and stands, celeb chefs and street inspired dishes from LA’s best restaurants. Our open bars and beer gardens will keep you hydrated ‘n happy with cold suds, delicious cocktails, tequila tasting, juices and more. To top it off, you’ll rock out with our summer concert from two of LA’s hottest new bands, all on the grassy green field of the Rose Bowl for one affordable, all-inclusive ticket price benefiting St Vincent Meals on Wheels & Woolly School Gardens!”
